The next tree-planting campaign was conducted at Balakhani Municipal Waste Utilization Landfill by “Tamiz Shahar” JSC. "Breathe into the future!" Employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, IDEA Public Union, Ministry of Economy and Tamiz Shahar JSC planted 1,000 trees of different species in support of the annual mass tree planting campaign held in Turkey on November 11 and the first anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

It should be noted that the area was piled up and burned with waste now was planted with  400 cypresses, 250 camels, 250 pines, and 100 pomegranate trees. At present, it is fully fit for planting and more than 14,000 trees have been planted over the years.  Wastewater is turned into technical water and used for irrigation after being processed from the special filters and the gas generated from the waste help to produce electricity.

Greenery campaigns in the landfill area has become a tradition and it is already some years that IDEA, the Ministry of Economy and “Tamiz Shahar” JSC jointly hold tree-planting campaign in this area.

Till 2009, the landfill area was just an open uncontrolled dump site that was covered by a cloud of putrid smoke of burning waste. The recent years this dump site has been changed into a beautiful area with greenery and trees. With the inception of the activities by “Tamiz Shahar” JSC unpleasant burning and smoke of municipal waste were completely eliminated. The necessary infrastructure was established in 120 ha area and proper procedure for waste reception started.  At present, proper waste management is carried out in accordance with modern standards.
