Picnic Action in Boyukshor Park

On July 27, with the joint initiatives of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC and ASAN School, a picnic festival around Lake Boyukshor was held. The festival attracting more than 500 attendees and aiming to raise public awareness of environmental issues was a part of “Green ASAN” project. Hundreds of people willing to make good use of their leisure time became involved in this event. Creating entertainment venues and trampolines for children, making interactive quizzes and games, giving soft drinks and ice creams were the things made the picnic enjoyable. Participants were provided with the comprehensive information on waste management and the importance of cleaning solid waste after resting. Speaking of the representatives of the Azerbaijan Sailing Federation about sailing sport had also a place among the attention-grabbing moments. The festival was colored by the participation of young singers and musicians. It was underlined that Boyukshor Region was considered as an ecological disaster area a few years ago and its transformation into rest zone was possible thanks to great efforts. 300 hectares of Boyukshor was known as the end spot of oil waste and wastewater. During the rehabilitation process in this area 2.8 million cubic meters of bottom sediment was removed. Now, 80,000 ornamental trees and shrubs add an extra beauty to this newly laid out promenade.
