“Tamiz Shahar” OJSC participated at the exhibition “Day of Cities” in Geneva

Tamiz Shahar OJSC was represented at the exhibition “Day of Cities” held in Geneva, Switzerland within the 68th session of UN Economic Commission for Europe on April 8-9, 2019. The event chaired by Olga Algayerova, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Secretary for the Commision is dedicated to the theme of “Smart Sustainable Cities: Leaders of Sustainable Development”.

It should be noted that delegation led by Eldar Azizov, The Head of Executive Power of Baku, participated with three main projects at the exhibition. The projects demonstrated successful activities of Azerbaijan in the field of economic and social development, as well as environmental protection, which are three key elements of Sustainable Development. These are “White City” and “Clean City” projects with ecological and economical factors, as well as the project of State Housing Development Agency that represents social factor.

Exhibition stand of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC demonstrates company’s works to protect the environment. Visitors were informed that company dispatches waste materials for recycling by sorting them out in Balakhani Material Recovery Facility. While Baku Waste To Energy Plant generates electricity by incinerating the remain part of the waste.

It was reported that Balakhani Industrial Park was inaugurated in 2017 with an investment amount of 40.3 million AZN. 15 residents registered in BIP and 7 of them have already started to operate. Taking into account the interest of entrepreneurs, area of the Balakhani Industrial Park has been expanded to 8.3 hectares. Currently there are approximately 400 employees in the enterprises and number of them is expected to increase to 650 due to the implementation of new projects.

Olga Algayerova, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and visitors also got acquainted with the social projects of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC. One of these projects is “Waste to Art” International Art Exhibition, jointly implemented with Heydar Aliyev Foundation. At this fair held for 7 years, artworks by artists and sculptors from 42 countries have been exhibited.
