The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic celebrates the last week of September as “Caspian Week”

According to the UN decision the last week of September has been celebrating as International Maritime Day since 1978. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic celebrates the last week of September as “Caspian Week”. The main goal of the project “Caspian Week” celebrated on 23-30 September was to draw the attention of the community to the sea and its bio-resources.
Within the frames of “Caspian Week” community work days and round tables were held with the participation of citizens, representatives from local executive power authorities, educational and other institutions.
In connection therewith, “Tamiz Shahar” JSC led an action on the topic “Clarity of our city depends on all of us” together with pupils at Shuvelan beach on September 30, 2009. More than 50 pupils joined the action and beach line was cleaned from household wastes. During cleaning action some ecologic-enlightenment games were organized with pupils so as to make the work more interesting. The pupils participated at the games were awarded by the Company. The representative of the “Tamiz Shahar” JSC provided information to develop skills and knowledge in the field of environment and waste management and touched upon the problems of global concern in this field. The management of JSC stressed the significance of holding such actions regularly and its benefits for the community. “Echo-sphere” Social-Ecology Center supported this action.
