“Tamiz Shahar” JSC continues study tours to Balakhani Material Recovery Facility and Baku Waste to Energy Plant.
The next tour was organized on the 5th of September for foreign and local students who participated in the international summer schools within the framework of exchange program held in Baku.
The students representing different local and European educational entities got acquainted with the working process of the plants and were informed about the activities held there.
They were informed that part of the collected waste generated in Baku is delivered to Balakhani Material Recovery Facility. Recyclable materials like metal, glass, plastic, paper and so on are segregated from the total waste and are sent to recycling plants for further processing.
The other part of the waste which is considered non-recyclable is sent to Baku Waste to Energy Plant for incineration. With advanced 4G technologies waste volume is decreased 10 times and electricity is produced during incineration process. It is possible to cover annual electricity need of city or town with 300 thousand people with annual produced electricity of this plant.
“Tamiz Shahar” JSC regularly holds public awareness campaigns and projects dedicated to waste management.
