“Tamiz Shahar” JSC organized next study tour to the plants for schoolchildren

“Tamiz Shahar” JSC continues its public awareness campaigns and projects dedicated to waste management.
Within the framework of “Ecological month” announced in different schools of Baku, “Tamiz Shahar” JSC organizes study tours to Material Recovery Facility and Baku Waste to Energy Plant.
The next study tour was organized on 26th of January for the schoolchildren of School №6 and №297 located in Baku.
Schoolchildren of 4th, 5th and 8th classes participated in the study tour got closely acquainted with working process and were informed about the plant activities. They were informed that the solid municipal waste generated in Baku is delivered to Material Recovery Facility. Metal, glass, plastic, paper and other recyclable materials are segregated from the total mass during sorting process and sent to the recycling facilities as raw materials.
The schoolchildren gave useless paper materials which they collected from home and school to Balakhani Material Recovery Facility.
They were informed that the waste unsuitable for segregation is sent to the WTE plant which is developed with advanced 4G technologies. In the result of incineration the volume of the waste is decreased 10 times and electricity is produced during the process. The amount of produced electricity can provide 100 thousand houses with electricity during a year.
