June 5th is “World Environment Day”

UN General Assembly’s session held on June 5, 1972 in Stockholm was focus on the protection issue of environment. Taking into consideration the grave situation of the problem, necessity of enlarging the enlightenment process on environment among the people, importance of bringing the whole attention to this sphere the participants of the session designated June 5 as “World Environment Day”. Since 1973, June 5 has been marked as “World Environment Day”.
The President of Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Ilham Aliyev’s special attention to environmental protection, settlement issues of environmental problems has given positive impetus on the activities carried out in the direction of improvement of environmental problems in our country and large-scale projects have been realized successfully in this sphere. Such activities are being held at present. State bodies on settlement of environmental issues undertook important tasks since the Head of the State announced 2010 as “Year of Ecology”.
“Tamiz Shahar” JSC has realized a serious of measures in the direction of environmental protection and improving the human health since its establishment. As the result of activities carried out in Balakhani landfill on solid municipal waste disposal, adverse impacts on environment have been reduced. With a view to organizing public resource involvement in the settlement of environmental problems and bringing public’s attention to the environmental problems in our country, Joint Stock Company is holding various measures.
With a view to bringing public’s attention to environmental problems once again on “World Environment Day”, “Tamiz Shahar” JSC demonstrated a tree made from solid municipal waste in “Icharishahar” State Historical-Architectural Reserve. Demonstration of the tree made from solid municipal waste in “Icharishahar” State Historical-Architectural Reserve is not accidental. With a view to protecting the cleanness and beauty of Icharishahar, a serious of measures on sorting solid municipal waste generated in the territory of reserve have been taken by the support of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC since February of the current year. The sorting of organic and inorganic wastes has been started in the area of the reserve. Besides, special marked containers for sorting the wastes have been placed and two-section bins have been distributed to dwellers.
