“Creative ecological designer” action was held for Old City youth within the framework of “Year of Ecology”

Within the framework of “Year of Ecology” “Tamiz Shahar” JSC, “Icheri Sheher” SHAR and “EkoSfera” Socio – Ecological Centre held “Creative ecological designer” informational – creative action with Old City youth today.
Every week, on Fridays and Sundays in July and August little ones of Old City with the help of experts from “EkoSfera” Centre and project volunteers, “Tamiz Shahar” JSC’s experts, as well as invited masters and painters got full information about environmental protection, recycling and utilization of household wastes, protection problems of natural resources through meetings organized in gaming form at Museum of Miniature Book.
The little ones were informed about facts and figures on wastes and ecological symbols, examples regarding the categories of solid municipal wastes. Besides, they were explained where to dump food wastes, what to do with waste paper, metal cans and glass as well as broad information on reduction methodology of household wastes was provided during informational – creative meetings. The children made animated cartoons (animation) about household wastes and they also designed various waste containers during creative – lessons. Moreover, they prepared eco-bags with different ornaments on them.
Reusing paper wastes the young creators made miniature books and notebooks and after that they wrote their opinions about Old City and noted several slogans on environmental protection during the organized lessons.
Now these books are being demonstrated on special shelves in Icherisheher Museum of Miniature Book.
Meetings with children were held within the framework of “Collection and separation of municipal solid waste (a pilot project in Icherisheher). The project which is being carried out in partnership with “Tamiz Shahar” JSC is implemented within the framework of Civic Action for Security and Environment (CASE) Small Grants Programme administered by the OSCE Office in Baku and financed by Statoil and the Government of Austria.
Little residents of Old City were awarded because of active role in this project.
